Belair House Wedding Photographer
Eve & James got married at Belair House in Dulwich last summer during the heatwave. Eve’s day started in the Half Moon hotel/pub where she had a very relaxed and leisurely start to her day with bridesmaids and family. James met up with his groomsmen for a much needed cold pint in the pub on this very hot June day and after figuring out how to pin the button holes and fold the hankies, they were off to Belair House to welcome their guests. It wasn’t long before Eve was en-route too, and their ceremony room was jam packed with waiting guests and a fabulous group, who sang Eve into her ceremony. To start, there was a poignant moment as a candle was lit to remember Eve’s dad and all those absent loved ones that day. Their celebrant was a real character, insisting on engagement from the crowd wherever he could and with a few cheers, they were finally married. More enthusiastic singing from this very talented group as the newly weds were hugged and kissed going back down the aisle.
Summer wedding in South London
Back out into the warm sunshine, Eve & James clung to their drinks as swathes of confetti were thrown all over them. It got everywhere as usual! With a jazz trio playing, babies on the lawn, guests enjoying mojitos the wedding celebrations were in full swing. It was a perfect summer afternoon and in a location they knew well, which meant a lot to the couple. What a totally relaxed and happy crowd they were. Eve looked absolutely stunning in her long gown as we took the short walk down into the gardens in the hot sun to do some romantic photos, so we headed for some shade. They were such a sweet couple! Back up at the house, they walked straight into dinner, cutting their wedding cake to whoops and cheers and then their wedding meal started. The service is always great at this venue and their staff are always happy to go the extra mile with a smile on their face! Midway through, pink champagne was served to everyone, Eve’s dad’s favourite tipple, and a toast was made in his honour before speeches started. As with all the best speeches, there were tears and laughter in equal measure. Thanks Eve & James for booking me, and I hope you both have many loved up years together.
Documentary wedding photography coverage
The light throughout the day was amazing and a photographers dream! I don’t use flash or additional lighting during a wedding ceremony as I find it too intrusive and only use it for any group photos and some of the dancing. I’ll shoot utilising whatever light is available, wherever I am. If you’ve a twinkling winter wedding with everything lit by fairy lights & candlelight, that’s the mood and atmosphere I’ll capture. Equally, if your wedding’s on a bright summers day, I’ll capture it in all it’s sunny glory! I don’t pose or intervene throughout the day and shoot through the moments all around me, from the funny moments the kids are having, to the tearful, emotional ones that you might have. The focus isn’t on me, it’s on you and your guests and all that’s happening on your wedding day, but without a fuss and all done in a quiet thoughtful way. If that sounds like what you might want, take a look at a few more of my weddings. Here’s a winter wedding at Belair House, and a summer one at Hampton Court House.
