Most of my work is photographing weddings but I do get asked quite regularly to cover corporate events in London as well as West Sussex event photography so I was really pleased to have been asked to photograph the gorgeous Kerry’s big 40th Birthday party a few weeks ago just outside of Chichester in West Sussex. Kerry had arranged a fabulous party in some of the Stunning Tents Company’s tipi’s in her beautiful garden. Its been a while since I photographed an event in a tipi, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but these were no ordinary tents! Supplied and set up by The Stunning Tents Company these uber stylish luxury tipi’s were AMAZING!! They had been set up to provide a dining area for all guests as well as a lounge area and a dance floor! With lots of space for the live band and a huge bar, as well as a fire if it got a bit chilly, it was amazing.
Kerry had been busy planning her 40th Birthday Party for weeks and had left no detail to chance. There were beautiful scented flowers everywhere, many supplied from Kerry’s own rose and wild flower gardens, and beautiful table settings with candles and special lighting everywhere. It was simply stunning. Kerry & Andrew’s guests were welcomed into their gorgeous garden for drinks and delicious canapés, the perfect setting for their friends and families to catch up in the glorious afternoon sunshine. There were lots of smiles and laughter all afternoon, with some gorgeously cheeky children keeping everyone entertained. It was a really relaxed and fun party to photograph. As the sun went down, and after a few group shots, the party moved into the tipi’s when dinner service started – catering was arranged by Kerry & Andrew’s favourite local restaurant and the food was stunning and of course, delicious! Guests partied the night away with lots of dancing as the live band played into the night….. and there were some great moves on the dance floor!
Kerry wanted a reportage photographer who could take discreet and informal photos, rather than a traditional ‘in your face’ photographer and I was delighted to have been chosen. The setting certainly lent itself very well to my style of documentary photography and covering Kerry’s party was a dream. With a few choice family photos, it was great shooting for a client that trusted me to get on with covering the event the way I wanted to.
