VIrge & David’s JOYFUL WEDDING AT HAMPTON COURT HOUSE

Hampton Court House is a venue I know incredibly well. I’ve been photographing weddings here for over ten years, and it never loses its magic.

Tucked beside Bushy Park, minutes from Hampton Court and the river, this historic house works beautifully for both intimate gatherings and larger celebrations. It remains one of the most versatile and beautiful London wedding venues I’ve shot at and I love it’s grandeur and spaces.

Getting Ready at the Mitre

My lovely couple, Virge & David chose Hampton Court House for their September wedding, hosting an intimate celebration with around 50 of their closest friends and family. Virge got ready at historic Mitre Hotel, minutes away overlooking Hampton Court Palace. She spent the morning with her twin sister and older sister, in a very calm, unhurried way. I do love prep coverage, it’s a favourite part of the day for me, and you can’t beat getting ready with funny women with fizz! David and his parents were already at Hampton Court House, helping with last minute details for the wedding as guests started to arrive.

A Grand Hall Ceremony at Hampton Court House

The ceremony took place in the stunning light-filled Grand Hall, overlooking Bushy Park and one of the loveliest spaces at Hampton Court House. If you’re lucky, Keith and his mates (the stags) will be just outside in the park or wandering past mid-ceremony. After the short drive from the Mitre, Virge was walked down the aisle by David’s Dad — such a touching moment that set the tone for the heartfelt ceremony that followed. She had her gorgeous flowers made by Fairynuff Flowers, who is such a talented florist. There were a couple of readings, lots of laughter, smiles and rings exchanged, and before long they were married. This venue has a gallery in the main hall, which is perfect for shots from above, so I often work with a second photographer when shooting here, to get those perfect shots of the bride entering and the couple leaving after their ceremony. I did on this occasion too as you can see from the images shared.

MY HIGHLIGHTS

Here’s a selection of my favourite images from Virge & David’s wedding at Hampton Court House

Confetti, Gardens and Celebration

Thankfully, the weather stayed dry and everyone spilled out onto the lawns for the confetti run, which didn’t disappoint. Then followed a big group photo, to capture the moment. The newly weds led all their guests around the house to the garden terrace, for lots of fizz in the conservatory. Guests chatted, caught up with life – many of them old friends, going back a long way with this lovely couple. Time out from chatting for Virge & David, whilst we took some photos in and around the house. There are lots of lovely spaces and we had time for a relaxed walk around. What stood out most was the playfulness and energy of this couple, David telling me this was simply who they are, everyday. A happy, affectionate, slightly mischievous goofy couple who wanted their relationship to reflect the heart of their day. They were just their glorious selves!

A Beautiful Day

After photos, there was a traditional cake cutting, gorgeous cake by the talented Made by Adele and then heartfelt speeches from sisters and best men together. And plenty of time for more informal group photos. The rain eventually arrived as promised, whilst guests enjoyed delicious gourmet canapés, before the wedding party headed off to another local venue for drinks & dinner across the river. This was a lovely and very relaxed celebration, shared with close friends, family, and David’s sweet parents and children. I love this style of laid back wedding where I get to know the guests a bit more and can really connect with them.
