Grand Hotel Wedding Photography – Sarah & Hugo Day 2! This year I’ve covered quite a few weekend celebratory weddings with celebrations spread out over a couple of days I’m loving this new trend! Sarah & Hugo were another one of my couples who choose to organise their wedding this way and if you missed Day 1 of their weekend of wedding celebrations, click here to take a look. Day one started with their civil wedding ceremony at Brighton’s Town Hall after which they all headed off for a small celebratory family lunch. Day 2 was much more about celebrating with their wider family and friends in a more traditional way – with afternoon tea at the Grand Hotel in Brighton.
Wedding Blessing at St Peter’s Brighton
Their second day started with Sarah & Hugo’s church blessing at St Peter’s in central Brighton – you can’t miss it, its one of the biggest churches in Brighton and situated just a short walk away from the seafront. Sarah wore a different wedding dress for day 2, a stunning three quarter length satin gown with fur stole, and her pretty little bridesmaids looked equally stunning in their pink dresses. Sarah and Hugo, now married of course walked into church and down the aisle together, breaking tradition in the nicest possible way. Their church blessing was followed by their walk back down the aisle to Eric & Ernie’s ‘Give me Sunshine’ which was a first! Love their sense of humour!
Short bus trip the Grand Hotel for tea!
Then followed a short champagne drinks reception in the church itself, and a few family photos outside before they all boarded their wedding bus for the short drive to the Grand Hotel. It was a stunningly gorgeous hot day and all the Londoners welcomed the fresh sea breeze. On arrival at the Grand, there was time to take a few more family photographs on the iconic staircase followed by Sarah & Hugo’s big entrance into their tea celebrations! Guests were treated to mouthwateringly delicious cream cakes and chocolates, cream scones and posh sarnies, together with a selection of leaf teas. It was the first traditional afternoon tea wedding I’d been to and loved it! Then time for speeches and more champagne as per tradition with Sarah’s father, Hugo and his best man Nick doing the honours. Oh and there was mention of Sarah’s feature in Good Housekeeping (“my holiday romance never ended”) where she’d gone off travelling and found much more than she’d bargained for… her soulmate! Sarah had made gorgeous lavender bags for all of their guests and those that didn’t manage to finish their scrumptious teas, packed posh doggie bags to take away!
A trip down to the Bandstand
And onto the last part of the day… the final trip along the sea front by bus down to the Bandstand a bit further along the seafront, where we did some family photos and then a few of just the two of them. A splendid day was had by all and I really enjoyed covering Sarah & Hugo’s 2 days of celebrations. Planning a Brighton or Sussex wedding?
