Engagement & Proposal photography is something a lot of couples are booking these days, and I do love an engagement shoot! Capturing such a special moment for couples who are about to embark on a life’s journey together is a real joy! I’m recommended by the gorgeous Victoria & her lovely team at Secret Cabins in Storrington, and have photographed a number of proposal shoots in most of the stunning cabins there. It’s a really special place and the team are amazing at setting things up just as you want and adding any special touches to make your special occasion totally unforgettable. What’s the best time for a shoot?

Most guests booking a cabin plan to arrive in the afternoon so a shoot on arrival is a popular plan. Standard check-in is at 3.30pm, however if you’ve booked a cabin with a garden and plan to propose outside, you may be able to arrive slightly earlier by special arrangement with the team at Secret Cabins (ask at least 2-weeks before your arrival date), so we can shoot in the daylight. In the winter when sunset is between 3-4pm, there is limited light after 4pm so bear this in mind. If you’re planning a proposal indoors, anytime from 3.30pm is suitable.

It’s a surprise so how does that work?

Most proposals are a lovely surprise so once you have planned your arrival time and agreed any special arrangements with the Secret Cabins team, I will arrive and be on site 30 mins before your planned arrival. This ensures I can see the layout, the lighting and that I’m in place in case you’re early. I photograph things as they’re happening, as discreetly as possible and my cameras are set to silent mode so you can’t hear me. I don’t use flash photography either. Sometimes it’s helpful to use a blindfold so your partner can’t see anything until you’re in place, or just ask them to close their eyes, hold your hand and to trust you! These are always so lovely to photograph, full of nervous excitement as all the plans finally come together. We’ll plan all the details together to ensure it stays a surprise, right until the last minute.

What should we wear?

Wear something comfortable, be yourself, but feel free to glam-up and sparkle if you’re planning a lunch before or dinner after, or just want to look fab for the shoot.

How long is the shoot?

These type of engagement shoots at Secret Cabins last around 20-30 mins max. I’ll cover the proposal and some lovely portraits of the two of you afterwards, both in and outside if possible, subject to the light and weather. Please try to be on time – if you’re running late and arrive past the agreed start time, there may be an additional charge.

How much does it cost?

My price for a shoot at Secret Cabins is £250 and covers my wait time and the proposal shoot. It also includes editing and an online private gallery with your photos, which should be ready within a week of the proposal date.
