Michelham Priory Stylish Autumn Barn Wedding – Susie & Chris booked romantic Michelham PrioryĀ in East Sussex for their September wedding last year. It was a beautiful Autumn day when I headed off to start my coverage at Susie’s family homeĀ in Eastbourne where sheĀ grew up. Susie’s sister Katie, their mum and bridesmaids were with Susie helping her get ready for her big day, and the morning passed really quickly beforeĀ Susie was off to their local church for the ceremony looking incredibly beautiful. Ā My coverage is always relaxed and it’s a great time to start first thing when the bride is getting ready so I can meet the family and have time for that all important and most essential first cup of tea!
After covering Susie’s preparations, as usual I whizzed off ahead to get to the church in plenty of time to see how the Groom Chris was and to capture some relaxed moments before the ceremony began. Ā Chris was busy greeting family and friends with guest arriving at the church every few minutes and in good time for Susie’s arrival. And so the wedding began…
After the ceremony, guests gathered outside with handfuls off confetti petals ready for the big moment. Confetti duly thrown with lots of gusto and cheers, the newly weds were whisked off inĀ sweet vintage style towards the priory. We had a few moments before their guests started to arrive so we managed to squeeze in a few photos of the two of them and then everyone headed off to the drinks reception behind the old barn overlooking the lake. Such a gorgeous setting.
The barn was beautifully decorated and incredibly stylish with so many personalised details chosen by the couple – if you’re looking for ideas for your barn wedding, take a look! Ā It’s a fabulous venue with plenty of green space and worth a look if you’re planning an East Sussex wedding. There’s always a great buzz during receptions where family members are all catching up on the family news, passing photos around, taking selfies, greeting the newly weds and other impromptu moments of fun. We wandered off for a short time to take some photos in the grounds of the old prioryĀ and inĀ the lovely wild English gardens before dinner started. There was a lot of fun in that room that night! Speeches that made the bride and groom absolutely cringe with embarrassment and laugh in equal measure as well asĀ lots of heartfelt words spoken about them as people, the value of their friendship and all the good wishes that were being sent their way. That’s what its all about really – people who love each other coming together to celebrate.
And then the party started. They were a great crowd who knew how to party. Everyone was up on that dance floor celebrating the happy couple and dancing their socks off. So that’s was Susie & Chris’s wedding. A day that came and went with a bang. Fun and happiness, love and laughter. The best of wedding days. Here’s to you both and thank you for choosing me to be your wedding photographer x
