As a London and Sussex based Wedding Photographer, it’s great to get asked to provide Event Photography coverage every now and then, and last weekend I was really pleased to be asked to cover the Hairdressing Council’s annual Student of the Year Competition which took place at L’Oreal’s Academy in Hammersmith. The judges included Andrew Barton (of 10 years younger fame) and a panel of equally prestigious judges.
The Student Finalists had an hour to complete their chosen and well-practised styles, and there were some incredible techniques being used with some amazing results – long, short, up, down with all sorts of colours and finishes. After two rounds of judging and interviews, we were all whisked off to Salon International at London’s Excel where the winners were finally unveiled live on stage. The final moments were electrifying!! It was a fantastic day and I have to say, the students were such a talented bunch, some as young as 17!
