Hackney Town Hall and JJ Studios Wedding Photography

This Hackney Town Hall and JJ Studio’s wedding takes some beating!  Anais & David with their Spanish & Belgian families came together in London where the couple lived and worked, making it a good central place for everyone to travel to. The scene was set one gorgeous June Saturday morning in Shoreditch at the Hoxton Hotel where the bride & groom were getting ready with their immediate families in separate rooms. After a quick lunch with three generations of families on both sides, they both went back to their rooms get dressed. The calm and gorgeous Hoxton rooms were bathed in light, making it a dream to photograph in. David read through his speech whilst Anais had final touches to her make up.

First Look at the Hoxton Hotel

Wearing her beautiful geometric style dress by Hayley Paige Bridal, Anais met David, who was holding her delicate lily of the valley bouquet in a quiet corner of the hotel for a first look. It was so sweet capturing the two of them together. Both quiet people, they wanted this little moment together before the day began. We then headed out into Shoreditch to take some couples photos in and around the hotel – they really loved this area so wanted to capture a real flavour of the city and it’s creative and colourful art. Whilst on walkabout, they were surprised by some friends who weren’t able to make it to the wedding, with flowers and a wedding gift! A short poem and lots of hugs later, we headed back to the hotel, ready to head off for the wedding ceremony.

Wedding Ceremony at Hackney Town Hall

Both families jumped into taxi’s the short distance to the town hall where many of their guests were already gathering on this hot Saturday afternoon – Hackney has a proper old London town hall with huge cool rooms, the perfect blend of tradition without being religious!  David walked in with his Mum and Anais with her Dad and the ceremony began.  There were a few readings, a few emotional moments and then they were announced married to the uproar of their enthusiastic crowd! Back outside for copious amounts of confetti and rice which is traditional in Spain, and a few group photos on the steps before everyone boarded a big red bus to JJ Studios to carry on the celebrations. The venue is a 4-floor photography studio – a blank canvas in the heart of Shoreditch with absolutely stunning views across the city. Guests slowly made their way upstairs to the top floor to a champagne reception accompanied by a bit of mellow jazz. Summer time in London at it’s best.

Documentary wedding photography at JJ Studios

Dinner was announced downstairs and guests took their seats before welcoming the newly weds with more raucous cheers and yells waving their napkins in a madly happy frenzy! Dinner was served,  then some speeches and whenever prompted, the couple were forced to kiss most happily at their guests request! More speeches and gift giving followed by some fun and games, popping balloons, fizz & bets, this was a competitive crowd and there was no stopping them!  Downstairs to the first floor for dancing and David’s speech to a very giddy crowd who couldn’t wait to get their moves on the dance floor. The whole day flowed with such joy, I mean really palpable joy from everyone. Some weddings are just right up there and this was one of them. The couple were clearly much loved and hosted a fantastic day to remember – I’ve never smiled so much and thoroughly enjoyed shooting this fabulous London wedding from start to finish.
