Denise & Stuart’s summer wedding took me to The Kennels at Goodwood for the first time where they had opted for a small intimate wedding at this very stylish and quirky venue that’s ideal for smaller celebrations. Set in the beautiful rolling Sussex downs and part of the larger Goodwood Estate, the 3rd Duke of Richmond built a grand kennel for his beloved hounds followed by a bigger clubhouse where he’d wanted guests to enjoy fabulous food and scenery, today known as The Kennels.

“We want no-fuss wedding photography”

Denise and Stuart had booked me about six weeks before their wedding to cover their celebrations with as little fuss and formality as possible. They didn’t want a traditional photographer, and wanted as little fuss and posed photos as possible. Just informal and relaxed coverage capturing lots of moments during the day. My coverage started early afternoon at the venue where a few guests had already arrived and were eagerly awaiting Stuart’s arrival with his lovely mum, shortly followed by the lovely Denise and her mum. Both arrived in top of the range Roll’s Royce’s courtesy of RR who Stuart works for. Denise arrived looked absolutely radiant in her long satin gown and made her grand entrance with her very proud dad. There were a few tears, followed by a nearly stuck ring, a few giggles, readings and then they were married!

Celebrations in the clubhouse

After the ceremony everyone headed up to the clubhouse for champagne and canapés before some family photos outside. Weddings often bring families together for the very first time and it’s the perfect time to get those really special family shots. We then had a bit of a wander around the grounds for some relaxed bride and groom photos, after which Denise & Stuart were invited back in to start their wedding breakfast celebrations back in the library where they’d wed earlier. It was now all set up beautifully for dinner.

The wedding dinner

There were speeches, more champagne, lots of laughter, good food, beaming mums and dads, and a very happy bride and groom.  A very, very laid back, relaxed, happy and completely understated wedding between a couple very much in love. Many congratulations again to you both and thank you for choosing me to capture your special day.
