You’re bound to have a number of questions about how things works before you contact me or book, so here are a few of my most frequently asked ones – if there’s anything else you want to ask, or just want a chat about how I work, my photography style, or how I’d cover your wedding day celebrations, get in touch HERE.
I’m based in West Sussex in a small village by the sea, between Chichester and Brighton. I shoot weddings all over Sussex, London and across the UK. Distance isn’t an issue.
In a nutshell, my style is a blend of natural, candid storytelling photography with added creative portraits! Most of the day, I’m discreetly capturing what’s happening in a relaxed, natural way with an eye for detail. My fly on the wall approach to covering your wedding day means it’s all about you, not me. I won’t get all bossy on you, telling you where to stand or interrupt the day’s events telling you to look at the camera blah blah blah. My approach is far from it. Your wedding day happens as you intended it – naturally, flowing from one thing to the next without the need to constantly stop for photos. I’ll be capturing things as they happen, real moments, real emotions and your day is unfolding. I blend in, taking photos whilst everyone is doing their thing, enjoying the day, as I believe the best images are ones taken in a less obvious way. Yes! I’m happy to include a limited number of important family group photos but try to avoid long lists of endless groups, which can take up a lot of time on your wedding day and gets really boring, so I recommend limiting them to between 6 – 8 groups which we can do in 15-20 minutes, letting you get back to mingling with your guests over drinks, and I can get on with what I do best – capturing those lovely unscripted and unposed natural shots which is why you’ve booked a natural, relaxed creative documentary photographer! To book just call, email me or complete the short contact form on my contact page and I’ll let you know within 24 hours if I’m available to shoot your wedding. If I am available, we’ll arrange a call so we can chat about your plans in a bit more detail and I’ll answer any questions you may have. Once we’ve gotten to know each other a bit more and talked through how I work, I’ll send you a quote, contract and payment info via my on-line booking system. A booking fee of £300 will secure your date and then I’m all yours!
The longer the coverage booked, the more images you’ll get, and the more going on the more I’ll shoot, but on average you’ll get anything between 300-800.
Usually within 4-weeks after your wedding, or during peak season, up to 6-weeks max. If you’re in a hurry, I have a premium delivery service that costs extra for delivering in 7-days of your wedding.
Absolutely. I’m fully insured for my equipment, professional indemnity and public liability insurance to £5M. I’ll confirm this in the contract. If your venue requires confirmation of insurance, please let me know and I can send them a copy of my insurance certificate.
No, the high resolution version of your images that are ready to print and share aren’t watermarked. But I also provide a second low resolution set which has my logo on, that you can share on social media or with other wedding suppliers that are!
It’s not essential, though I do try to meet most of my couples beforehand at their venue, subject to work and location. I am available for pre-wedding zooms or calls to go through plans and timings, and to ensure I have a good understanding of how you want your day to feel and expectations of the photography.
Absolutely! I love my gorgeous dachshund Otto and have lots of friends with dogs – I love them!! Of course if you’d like your four-legged furry friend to be at or feature in your wedding, I’d love that, in fact I have a blog post on dogs at weddings do take a look!
Yes – I’ve been shooting weddings for 14 years, the last 10 years full time. I shoot weddings throughout the year, during the gorgeous soft summer light and during the winter when weddings are harder to shoot in harsh lighting.
Absolutely. Every couple deserves some lovely, natural photos of them on their wedding day so we’ll work some time into your day to get some beautiful, relaxed and authentic images of you both, if that’s what you want. If it rains, it rains! We’ll embrace the rain, or snow, or sunshine… whatever comes our way, we’ll be prepared to make the most of it on the day. There’s no point worrying or stressing about something we can’t control. I’ve worked in all weathers and it’s never a problem.
I retain the copyright to my images always, but you can print them or share them, do whatever you like with them. There’s no issue at all with how you use them except commercial use. If you’re sharing with your venue or other suppliers, out of courtesy please ask them to credit me and tag me on social media.
There’s a £300 booking fee payable on booking to secure the date, with the balance due 28 days before your wedding. If you would prefer to pay by instalments just ask.
I always provide a good mixture of both and am happy to provide more of one or the other if you have a preference.
That would be very nice, thank you! Photographing weddings is hard work and I’m on my feet all day so I usually take a break when you’re eating – a hot veggie meal whilst your eating would be perfect, thanks for asking!
Good question and one I’m asked every now and then. I’m human and can’t give a cast iron guarantee I won’t be ill. I can only assure you that it would take a serious illness or catastrophe to prevent me from attending your wedding. If this were to happen, I work very closely with a select number of amazing wedding photographers who have very similar styles to my own and I’d do my utmost to find a suitable replacement for you, to step in at short notice. Rest assured, I take my obligation and commitment to your wedding day very seriously and replacement due to illness hasn’t happened yet!
Most couples who book me are a bit shy and don’t actually like their photo being taken, or feel uncomfortable being centre-stage. Whether you shy away from or come alive in front of the camera, I promise we’ll get some lovely images of you both. No awkward poses, forced smiles or images that don’t look or feel like you. I’ll work with you for just a short time to get some lovely shots of you both. Bring an open mind, be present, relax, connect, lean in and most of all, have fun. Read more about how to prepare HERE.
However long you want me there! Typically, I’m there from bridal prep all the way through to just after first dance capturing a bit of your party, but I can stay as long as you need me there. On average most bookings are for 8-9 hours.
Given the way I work, it’s not really necessary so they’re not included in the price, but some couples really want to experience what it’s like being photographed before their wedding day and of course it’s a great way to learn a bit more about each other. If you decide to have one, we can agree on a suitable location that will inspire us both. We can go rural or urban and you can dress up or down.
Absolutely. My trusty camera bag has wheels and has travelled many miles with me, nationally and internationally. I’ll travel anywhere and would LOVE to hear from you however far away you are.
Yes, I shoot with 2 cameras and have a third camera as a back up (all top of the range), with plenty of lenses, flash guns, memory cards and all that I need to do my job properly. Being well kitted out is something I take very seriously.
Of course! My album companies are as passionate about their craft as I am about photography and I’ve chosen them because they produce beautiful albums using quality papers and materials. Albums are available from £500. You don’t have to buy one if you don’t want one but I’ll show you the options available if you do, no pressure.
I currently shoot with a Pro Sony A9 mirrorless cameras that allow me to shoot silently, together with Sony prime & zoom lenses 35mm, 85mm, 135mm, 28-70mm, plus a mixture of flash guns and other lighting equipment, a Nikon D800, 2 x pro iMac’s, Macbook Air and pro Seagate hard-drives.
