East Sussex Wedding Photographer

This wedding featured beautiful flowers – copious amounts of them – a cliff side walk, three wedding cakes and a Chas n Dave tribute band!  Jules & Toby got married last month in the Parish Church of St John in Piddinghoe – a lovely sleepy little village near Peacehaven in East Sussex where their local library was an old fashioned red telephone box! I kid you not! Turns out they were going to be the very last couple to be wed in their church as sadly it was closing after their wedding (if that’s what churches do!) so it was a rather special wedding.

The bride made her own bouquets!

Before the service, Jules got ready at her parents home in Peacehaven with her bridesmaids. Asa florist by trade, Jules had decided to make all the bouquets herself using the most gorgeously scented shades of pink David Austen roses – so rare these days to have scented roses – and she’d also managed to make time to decorate their wedding venue with a sea of equally gorgeous flowers too. Once ready, she was then off to church with Dad, and I went on ahead to catch up with Toby who was nervously waiting with their guests. As is often the case, once the Bride arrives and is by the Groom’s side, any nerves quickly dissipate and everything feels better!

The nerves went once they were together

After the ceremony and signing we did a few key family photos outside church as well as a big group shot, just as the glorious sunshine was breaking through the cloudy sky. Then after the confetti throw we were off to Newhaven harbour for a bit of time to do some couples photos. We did a little cliff walk and got some great shots on the beach and lots of fresh air – it was a perfect late summer afternoon!

Church Hall Reception with a sea of flowers

Photos done, we headed off to their reception venue in their local church hall in Peacehaven where friends and family had already gathered. With the hog roast nearly ready, the celebrations started. Their hall looked so lovely – there were flowers galore, tall and short vases full of lovely pink flowers, twinkling candles, spots & stripes & florals, streamers, festoon lighting, pink paper lanterns and fairy lights and lots of scrummy delights for all their guests. The smell in the hall was short of amazing!

First Dance to Chas n Dave

After a few short speeches, nothing too formal as that just wasn’t their style, they danced their first dance to ‘ain’t no pleasing you’ played brilliantly by their Chas n Dave tribute duo…. and then followed lots of dad dancing, with the kids taking over the dance floor, just before there was a good old knees up and lots more dancing to the hokey cokey and a few more Chas n Dave numbers. It was a totally fabulous party to end their day of celebrations. Everyone joined in singing or dancing!

Jules & Toby – many congratulations again to both of you, it was an absolute pleasure and I wish you both all the love and luck in the world. Keep on dancing. Here are some shots from the day!
