Claire & Fergal’s gorgeous Buford Bridge Hotel wedding took place in Dorking at the foot of Box Hill, a stunning location surrounded by countryside. I’ve got lots of fond memories of picnics and games on box hill in my twenties so it was lovely to go back there. Claire & Fergal’s summer wedding brought their big families together from across England and Ireland one hot July day. Summer’s day. Check. Happy smiley people. Check. Lovely venue. Check…. All in the mood for a damn good celebration. Most definitely check!
Claire’s posse of Bridesmaids
Surrounded by literally a posse of bridesmaids, Claire got ready with all the gals (at least 9 of them) which as you can imaging took some time for them all to get ready. In a heady swirl of perfume, I headed off to church where Fergal and all their families were eagerly awaiting Claire’s arrival. Guests were already in place and chatting happily. Fergal’s priest had made the journey over from Ireland with his family to help conduct the marriage service so it was really personal. There were a good few laughs in church during the ceremony, stories of Ireland and some good old times. Once married, all their guests made their way out in time to bombard the couple with confetti and everyone headed back to the hotel to start the celebrations outside by the pool.
A trip up Box Hill
Fergal, who regularly runs up Box Hill was keen to make the trip up there for some photos so a short detour was made. It was pretty windy up there but we didn’t need long for a few shots before we were back down again at the hotel. And then the celebrations began. After a few attempts to throw the groom in the pool, things settled down for dinner. There were some truly memorable speeches – the best man had a belly-aching story or two to tell and Claire’s brother made a very heartwarming speech that brought a few tears. Cracking speeches and lots of hugs.
The scrum for the bouquet – ladies please!
The bouquet-toss-scrum followed dinner and lots of family photos and fun times. Everyone was talking photos of everyone… that’s what happens when big families meet for the first time. And they all get along in fine fashion. They were a great crowd, lively, fun, very merry and up for whatever it took to enjoy the day and celebrate with their friends. If you’re having a Buford Bridge Hotel wedding this year, and want relaxed candid photography, please do get in touch – I’d love to hear from you. Claire & Fergal, thanks a mill xx
