Bethnal Green Town Hall Hotel Wedding – Jessica & Anthony’s East End Wedding last weekend at Bethnal Green Town Hall Hotel was a truly heartfelt celebration with a big east end flavour. I’d met Jess a few years ago as I’d done a few corporate shoots for her employers. Fast forward a few years and I was really chuffed to be booked by them for their wedding. Jess said she was always impressed with my work so I was the only photographer they considered as soon as they started planning. Anthony was a real gent, very obviously and totally besotted with Jess. They had clear ideas about what they wanted and went about planning everything in a wonderfully cheerful way. Jess & Anthony were really keen to have lots of local east end elements as part of their day so they specifically chose east end venues and suppliers – I was the exception!

The ceremony was at Bethnal Green Town Hall Hotel, a stunning boutique hotel & venue with an old fashioned wood panelled council chamber, licensed for weddings, and the day’s coverage started with Jess’s preparations upstairs at the hotel itself. The hotel, a classic piece of art deco design was refurbished with splendour in recent years and has been used very frequently as a film location (Lock, Stock, Atonement…) so was a really stunning venue to be shooting a wedding at. The chamber whilst very atmospheric, was dark and quite a challenge to shoot in but I’m used to shooting in with whatever natural light there is, without the need to use flash which I feel for wedding ceremonies, is so distracting. A former colleague of Jess’s conducted the ceremony itself, adding a very personal touch to the proceedings. After the ceremony the newly married Jess & Anthony together with their guests, all jumped onto a traditional route master bus to the reception venue, Christ Church Spitalfields, another uber impressive venue I’d visited a few weeks earlier when we did our pre-wedding shoot together – if you missed it click here to see my earlier post. It was looking a bit stormy after the ceremony but the rain held out until just after we arrived at Christ Church. After a few quick family group photos on the steps, everyone headed in for champagne and a first look at the amazing space they’d chosen for their reception. It was hard to take a bad picture on the day – Jess and Anthony were amazing together and really concentrated on their guests having a wonderful time.

There are so many images from this fabulous London wedding so I’ll share part 2 later. For now, here’s part 1. Thank you for choosing me to shoot your wedding Jess & Anthony – congratulations again to you both!
