A Luxurious, Elegant Wedding at Lanesborough Hotel in Knightsbridge
I’m lucky enough to capture weddings of all shapes, sizes and designs. It’s this variety that’s one of the things I really love about what I do. I shoot a lot of big weddings throughout the year, but this beauty of a celebration will show you that small doesn’t have to mean understated. Take a peek at this luxurious and elegant wedding at Lanesborough Hotel in Knightsbridge with the lovely Victoria and Ryan to see what I mean.
Introducing the Couple
Victoria and Ryan are a truly modern love story. They met through a dating app and had what can only be described as a very successful date! Victoria and Ryan got in touch with me just four months before their wedding, which goes to show you can plan an incredible celebration in just a few months if you’re determined!
The couple clearly wanted to put together a relaxed, elegant and memorable day for their loved ones. They kept things small, with 20 or so guests, but this was the only small gesture about this beautiful day.
A Wedding at Lanesborough Hotel, Knightsbridge
The Lanesborough Hotel is located at Hyde Park Corner in Knightsbridge. Folks, this hotel is incredible. It’s luxurious, lavish and definitely an upmarket establishment. If you want to wow your guests and give them an experience they’ll never forget, you would do well to get married at this exceptional venue.
Being a hotel, it’s possible to have every aspect of your wedding day here. You can get ready in one of the stunning bedroom suites in the morning, exchange your vows in the exquisite ceremony room, before enjoying a beautiful meal for your reception. The Lanesborough Hotel has every aspect of your day covered. And what I love most is that there’s no travelling for guests so the lovely wedding day vibe isn’t interrupted.
Its location also makes it ideal for your photographer to get to, being a quick cab ride from Victoria Station. And there are some wonderful spots a few steps away to get some quintessentially London photographs taken after you’ve said your ‘I dos’.
It’s worth mentioning that the hotel has one very unique guest in the shape of a super fluffy Siberian Forest Cat named Lilibet! As the resident fur-ball, she is very well-loved by both staff and guests. She may even grace some of your wedding photos if you’re lucky!
The Ceremony
The Lanesborough Hotel has a choice of stunning rooms in which to host your ceremony and reception.
Victoria and Ryan had their ceremony in the Westminster Room, a gloriously bright room with a glass roof and classic decor. Photographing a ceremony in this room is a photographer’s joy. It’s an exceptional backdrop with its yellow floral walls and traditional architectural details.
You wouldn’t have to add anything to this space. Still, Victoria and Ryan had stunning flowers installed by Rachel Morgan Wedding Flowers for a little extra flair. And there are already more beautiful floral displays around the hotel, put together by the hotel florist. So, if flowers are your thing, you’ll love it here.
And Now You’re Married!
Sometimes, couples have to forgo some wedding traditions because of venue restrictions, such as having a confetti toss. But The Lanesborough was not one of those places. They are happy to allow the throwing of confetti, which is always a favourite moment of mine. Although we did have to persuade Victoria and Ryan’s photo-enthusiast family to put down their phones and cameras and grab some confetti instead!
After the ceremony, we all headed upstairs to a secluded area for the drinks reception. The staff served beautiful canapes, almost too pretty to eat! I was especially impressed with the level of service by the white-gloved wait staff as well.
Photo Opportunities
While your guests enjoy the delicious food, this is the perfect time to whisk you away and outside for a few photos. Victoria and Ryan were keen to have some classic London elements as part of their photos, so we started by taking a short walk over to Wellington Arch. Our trip across the road meant I could incorporate a well-known London sight – the London bus! There happened to be one passing at the right moment. We also stopped near a London Underground sign and got that involved too.
The front of the hotel is perfect for family group photos. And there are some lovely spots around the hotel for a few more posed shots if that’s your thing.
For dinner, Victoria, Ryan and all their guests moved to St George’s Room, where they dined around a long table perfect for a smaller wedding party. It’s another exquisitely decorated room with some imposing portraits on the wall, which certainly add to the grandeur of the whole place. And, as before, the service was impeccable and so well co-ordinated. This is a venue that will make you and your guests feel like really special.
It was my absolute pleasure capturing this wonderful, small but elegant and memorable wedding at the Lanesborough Hotel. If you’re thinking about booking this venue for your own special day, I’d love to chat about photographing it for you. Do get in touch, and let’s see how I can work with you!
