WINTER WEDDING AT HAMPTON COURT HOUSE

ALICE & FREDDIE’S WINTER WEDDING AT HAMPTON COURT HOUSE
I’m a regular at Hampton Court House in Surrey, which lies on the borders of Bushey Park and Richmond so I know this gorgeous venue well.
Alice & Freddie wanted a relaxed, traditional Christmassy wedding, full of the best bits about winter. Read on for the low down on their wedding at Hampton Court House.

Warm winter wedding vibes
Winter weddings in December always feel a little magical to me — the crisp cool air, the soft winter light, and that unmistakable sense of Christmas just around the corner. Alice and Freddie’s day was the perfect blend of all of this – warm, joyful, and filled with all the right things from beginning to end. This was a full day’s coverage, with two of us photographing across three locations to seamlessly capture it all. While my second photographer, Adam, began the day with Freddie and his ushers at The Duke’s Head in Putney, I joined Alice at her family home nearby, where she was preparing with her sisters. Wedding mornings mostly have a relaxed, intimate feel, and this was no exception. Alice surrounded by the people closest to her, sharing a quiet family lunch before the excitement of the day unfolded. Meanwhile, Freddie celebrated with his ushers at a lively lunch! Freddie and friends then walked along the river to All Saints Church on Putney Common, which had been transformed with wonderful greenery and florals.
Christmas Carols, Bagpipes and a trad Routemaster bus!
Guests were arriving at church, wrapped up for the chilly but dry winter’s day as a wonderful solo piper welcomed everyone. As more guests arrived, the Scottish theme became more apparent, featuring thistles and a LOT of tartan! Alice arrived in a classic black taxi with her dad, who proudly walked her down the aisle for a heartfelt ceremony. With Christmas just around the corner, everyone sang carols instead of hymns for a seasonal touch – always a winner! Once married, guests braved the cold outside for the confetti run as Alice and Freddie made their way through the crowd. After a few photos at the church, the newlyweds made their way to Hampton Court House in their taxi, while guests climbed aboard a vintage Routemaster bus.

MY HIGHLIGHTS
Here’s a selection of my favourite images from Alice & Freddie’s wedding at Hampton Court House
Toasty fires, fizz and fairy lights in the Grand Hall
Arriving at Hampton Court House felt like stepping into a winter heaven. The warming fires were roaring, staff waiting with trays of champagne, and the beautifully decorated Christmas tree sparkled in the Grand Hall. Alice and Freddie hotfooted it in after their guests and were welcomed with lots of cheer! The drinks reception gave everyone time to relax and mingle, while I captured their family group photos by the fireplace, after nudging a few guests out of the way! The dining hall was set up with long trestle tables, which always creates a really sociable atmosphere for big weddings. From a photography perspective, it also allows for much better viewpoints too. As the light faded, guests were invited into dinner, and Alice and Freddie were greeted with a standing ovation.
Dinner, dancing and final thoughts
Dinner was a true winter’s feast — comforting piping- hot sharing pies with lots of steaming veg, and hearty sticky brownies for dessert. There was also home made Gin on the tables for guests made by the happy couple! It was relaxed, abundant, and full of laughter, exactly what you’d hope for on a day like this. They cut their cheese stack with a sword. Speeches followed were full of personality, and then the evening shenanigans began as the band, 29 Fingers took to the stage and completely filled the dance floor from the first song. What followed was everything a great wedding party should be — a bit drunken and a bit wild! Friends danced late into the night, champagne flowed, and the celebration carried on in full swing as we left. Alice and Freddie’s wedding was an absolute joy to be part of. A beautiful day, for a lovely couple, surrounded by the people who matter most. A perfect way to begin the festive season.
